Not just for North/South traffic, something needs to be done about congestion going East/West as well (Chestnut and Sunshine both are extremely congested throughout the day). Obviously with the stores fronting Campbell this becomes nearly impossible, but it seems that the biggest problem isn't people that are traveling on Campbell to go into businesses, it's people commuting to/from work that cause the majority of the congestion. Chestnut and Kansas are called "Expressways" but they are far from it. What is needed is something similar to West ByPass between JRF and Sunshine; a divided and limited-access thoroughfare that runs through the heart of the city rather than just a standard road is BADLY needed. In the picture I attached, it's the idea of having back road access for South Campbell businesses behind where they are located in relation to Campbell therefor blocking access to Campbell to only at Fremont. Also included the idea of having Republic Road be built into a bridge over Campbell and have no access to Campbell. While it would cause a strain on traffic that would be diverted north to Primrose, more people would be encouraged to use the Intersections of JRF at Kansas and at National, therefor taking away a lot of congestion for Republic road as well? Just a thought. Add your Comment
